As I wrote in my initial post, I’ve been making music with computers since 1990. I’ve used GNU/Linux (mostly Ubuntu and now Xubuntu) for most of my personal computing since 2006 but haven’t used it for making music until now. I tried using Ubuntu Studio when it was first released in 2007 but at that time I felt it wasn’t good enough.
I recently tried Ubuntu Studio 12.04 and was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s more usable now. I was even able to record MIDI using the Live CD, which I took as a good omen! After that I installed Ubuntu Studio and have been exploring what I can do with it.
The goal of Making Music with Ubuntu Studio is to document what I discover; perhaps my discoveries will help someone else.
